Route planning is a classic example of what I call the 'Static Logic Trap.' Humans love routine, so we create 'fixed routes'—Driver A always does the North side, Driver B does the South. We do this because manual re-planning every day is too hard. But traffic isn't static, and neither are your customers. AI shatters this trap by re-optimizing the entire board every single morning based on live data. If you have more than three vehicles on the road, doing this manually is literally burning cash. The 15-20% reduction in fuel and vehicle maintenance isn't a 'maybe'—it's a mathematical certainty once you stop guessing and start calculating. Beyond the fuel, the real win is customer trust; AI allows you to give customers a 'you are stop #4, expected at 10:15 AM' link that is actually accurate. Don't over-engineer this. You don't need a bespoke enterprise system. Most of the tools I've listed integrate with Shopify or basic spreadsheets via Zapier. Start with the tool that has the best mobile app for your drivers; if the drivers hate the interface, the data will be garbage, and the optimization will fail.
