Ahrefs is the tool I use when I want the truth about why a competitor is winning. It’s the gold standard for data, specifically their backlink index and keyword difficulty scores. However, they've recently leaned into a 'pay-per-click' credit system that makes me grit my teeth. If you are just starting out, you will likely find the interface overwhelming and the price tag hard to swallow. Regarding their AI: it’s a helpful assistant, not a replacement for a strategist. It’s great for grouping 5,000 keywords into themes in seconds, but I wouldn't let it write my landing pages. Use Ahrefs for the data—the stuff only they have—and use your own brain (or a better LLM) for the creative execution. If you aren't doing SEO at least ten hours a month, save your money and use a simpler tool.
